  • Jessica McCartney

    Director

Jessica's passion for climbing ignited at the age of seven in Estes Park, Colorado. From the ages of eleven to twenty-three, she honed her skills in competitive climbing, conquering numerous challenges and gaining valuable experience. In 2014, she embarked on a new adventure, relocating to Tucson to pursue her academic endeavors at the University of Arizona. Some of her favorite places to climb are Hueco Tanks, Red Rocks, and the Homestead. When not scaling rock faces, Jessica embraces the exhilaration of mountain biking and snowboarding, cherishes moments with her husband and their adorable adventure pup, Aspen, and immerses herself in the complexities of cartography as a seasoned mapmaker.

As an AZWCC board member, Jessica wants to share her professional climbing experience to empower women and non-binary climbers to feel confident, included, and safe when in the climbing gym and outside.

As an Arizona native, Tina fell in love with the outdoors at a young age. She started climbing early in her life with her brother but got seriously into it during 2020. She loves climbing and exploring different crags all over Arizona. If she’s not climbing, she’s either hanging with family, watching a soccer game or kayaking.

After graduating from ASU in 2021, she moved to Tucson for her job as a journalist for KGUN9. She’s gotten the opportunity to tell Tucson’s stories, especially several about the climbing community here. She found climbing as a way to connect to nature and relax with friends. And now being apart of AZWCC, she hopes to spread the passion and love of climbing to others.
